San Francisco, CA - (July 21, 2009) Team 3G of the Indy Racing League, Jaques Lazier, Leilani Münter and LED lighting developer Novicomm announced a powerfully “green” alliance this week. Together, the team is reaching out to companies and consumers with a solution for all buildings — where Americans work, shop, learn and play — to operate more responsibly.
Their message: Now is the time for our nation’s commercial facilities to make the switch to 100% recyclable LED lighting. Eliminating the hazardous waste inherent in traditional fluorescents can protect our food and water supplies, while reducing energy and lighting costs by up to 50% can profoundly curb global warming and stimulate our economy.
Novicomm’s CEO, Michael Ernst shares, “our LED lamps help buildings meet stricter government standards for energy and the environment. It’s no small feat to deliver the most reliable UL listed products that meet Energy Star specifications, but we are commited to making a significant difference.”
Considering that nearly 30% of total U.S. lighting energy is consumed by commercial fluorescent fixtures (roughly 1.5 billion lamps), Novicomm’s LEDR-T8 tubes alone could save 16,500,000 kilowatt hours per year. This equates to a savings of 12,828 metric tons of carbon dioxide, or the equivalent electrical output of several large coal power plants. Consumers would save billions in electrical costs.

Raising awareness of environmental issues is nothing new for the progressive Indy Racing League (IRL). The IRL became the first motorsports property to utilize ethanol as the official fuel of the IndyCar Series, beginning with the 2008 racing season and carrying forward through the 2009 schedule. Even the mode of transportation in the paddock is environmentally friendly, as IRL officials use Trek bicycles for their transportation.

About Jaques Lazier
Hailing from Vail, Colorado and currently residing in Alta Loma, California, Jaques graduated Chapman University on the Dean’s List with a degree in Business Communications. He is married to Angelique with a son, Cayden. Jaques is the younger brother of Indy 500 Champion Buddy Lazier and son of past Indy racer Bob Lazier.
Jaques led the 2007 Indy 500 before the rain delay and has competed in 6 Indy 500s. He set a track record at Richmond, Virginia and won the pole and the race at Chicagoland Speedway by 15 seconds-the largest margin of victory in IndyCar history. These accomplishments set Jaques apart as an oval-racing specialist.
Jaques assumed the driving duties for the Curb Records/Agajanian/Team 3G #98 car at Texas this June and continues to pilot the history-rich #98 Novicomm/Curb Records/Team 3G car for the balance of the 2009 season. Jaques is also driver coach and spotter for Leilani Münter and donates much of his personal time to charitable events.
