Münter Showing Los Angeles Students that Math and Science are Cool
 
El Segundo, CA - (February 16, 2009) Leilani will be participating in Raytheon's MathMovesU Program, celebrating National Engineers Week with nationwide events for students. In El Segundo Feb. 16, Deanne Bell, host of the Discovery Channel's "Smash Lab," and race car driver Leilani Munter will discuss with students how math and science make their careers possible. Münter Speaking at Sustainable Mobility Summit at Pasadena Convention Center
 
Pasadena, CA - (February 18, 2009) Each year in Pasadena an international group of influential thinkers, industry executives, government leaders and entrepreneurs gather to explore key sustainability issues. This year, with sustainable mobility being the theme, you can now add vegetarian hippie chick race car driver to the list of attendees. Leilani Münter will be speaking at the Pasadena Art Center about her journey from biology graduate to race car driver to environmental activist. Other speakers include R. James Woolsey, former director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency and Andy Karsner, former assistant secretary of the United States Department of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The summit will explore how industries outside of the transportation and mobility fields approach sustainable mobility and what their fresh, often unexpected perspectives can bring to the table. Münter Attending Global Green USA Pre Oscar Party
 
Hollywood, CA - (February 19, 2009) Every year, Global Green hosts the eco event of the Oscars. Celebrities, industry executives, and environmentalists join Global Green to celebrate and help raise funds for our initiatives, including green affordable housing and schools. Leilani Müter will be attending the 6th annual Global Green USA Pre Oscar Party on Thursday, February 19th at the Avalon in Hollywood. Co hosts include Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, and Penelope Cruz with special musical performances by Sheryl Crow and Gavin Rossdale.

About Leilani Münter
 
Leilani started racing cars in 2001 and in 41 starts has nine top-five and 19 top-ten finishes. In 2006, she set the record for the highest finish for a female driver in the history of Texas Motor Speedway when she finished fourth. In 2007 Leilani became the fourth woman in history to race in the Indy Pro Series, the developmental league of IndyCar. She qualified fifth for her open wheel debut in 2007 and earned praise from many in the IndyCar community including four time Indy 500 Champion Rick Mears. Her racing accomplishments have landed her on the pages of USA Today, Glamour, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Men's Journal, the Washington Post and ESPN. Esquire Magazine has called her "A Woman We Love" and Sports Illustrated named her in their list of the top ten female race car drivers in the world. Leilani holds a degree in biology and is using her voice as a race car driver to draw attention to environmental issues. Leilani is an Ambassador for the National Wildlife Federation and is politically active in the legislative fight for the environment. She has made several trips to Capitol Hill to speak with members of Congress on behalf of environmental legislation.
