MÜNTER FINDS SPEED AT INDIANAPOLIS RACEWAY PARK
Indianapolis, IN (July 14, 2006) - Leilani Münter tested Indianapolis Raceway Park on Thursday alongside her coach, veteran short
track racing legend Butch Miller. With the help of her crew chief Deon Deneau, Münter quickly found her way around the 0.686 mile track, turning laps
only a few tenths of a second off of Butch Miller's best time.
"We are really happy with the test today, it was nice that Butch was testing, he showed me how to get around here," said Münter, "It's my first time at IRP.
I have never driven a track where you drift up to the wall right in the center of the corner. It took a couple laps to get used to it. The first time you do
it, you think you are going to knock the wall down, but of course there is grip up there and as soon as you get to it, the car turns."
"The only thing we struggled with was as soon as the sun went down the car got really tight in the center of the corner," continued Münter, "During the
day time, the car would roll through the center of the corner fine, but as soon as the sun was down, both Butch and I had a really bad push in the center of
the corner. We have to figure out how to deal with that come race day."
The ASA Late Model North Series will practice and qualify in the day, but race at night making it necessary for the SS Racing team to adjust for night
conditions. Leilani's team owner Ken Smith will be on hand at Indianapolis, as his company, ASI Limited, will be sponsoring the race at Indianapolis Raceway
Park on Saturday, July 22, 2006.
